The inaugural Run Mt Hutt is scheduled for 8 March 2025, taking place in the picturesque setting of Awa Awa Rata Reserve. This event features two distinct courses that showcase the stunning landscape and challenging terrain of the Mt Hutt region.
The Full Ascent course offers a 25km route, beginning in the lush native bush before transitioning to rugged alpine terrain. Runners will navigate a 12.5km ascent followed by a 12.5km descent, culminating at the ski field car park, where panoramic views of the surrounding mountains can be enjoyed. This advanced course is designed for seasoned runners, featuring significant elevation gain and technical challenges.
For those seeking a shorter yet still demanding experience, the 12km Challenge course ascends 6km up Mt Hutt road before returning to the reserve. This intermediate route provides an opportunity for runners to test their abilities without committing to the full ascent.
Post-race amenities will include opportunities for participants to relax and enjoy the local scenery, highlighting the unique atmosphere of the event.
