The Southern Cross Round the Bays event is scheduled for 2 February 2025, taking place in Christchurch. The race begins at Tidal View, situated on the edge of the Christchurch Estuary. Participants will navigate a course that includes Linwood Avenue and Dyers Road, before turning onto Bridge Street and The Parade.
One of the unique features of this event is the option to choose between two routes: a ‘fast’ route along Marine Parade, which offers a quicker path past the Pier, or a ‘scenic’ route that includes a beach run, providing a different perspective of the coastline. Both routes converge for the final stretch along The Parade, leading to Thompson Park.
This event is recognized as one of Christchurch’s largest community gatherings, often described as a street party, and is characterized by various entertainment options along the course. Participants can register individually or as part of a group, contributing to the social aspect of the event. Post-race activities and amenities are typically available to enhance the overall experience.
