The Aotearoa Ultra Marathon is scheduled for 11 January 2025, taking place in the scenic areas of Banks Peninsula and Christchurch. The race begins in Little River and offers participants the opportunity to traverse stunning landscapes, including close views of Akaroa Harbour, Pigeon Bay, and Port Levy. A notable feature of the course is the ascent of Mt Herbert, which provides panoramic views of Lyttleton Harbour.
The route is designed to immerse runners in the natural beauty of Canterbury’s diverse terrain, showcasing both coastal and mountainous environments. The event concludes at Halswell Quarry in Christchurch, a site known for its historical significance as a former quarry, now transformed into a public park with walking trails and scenic picnic areas.
