The City to Surf takes place on 10 November 2024 in Tauranga, marking it as one of the largest running events in the Bay of Plenty region. The event features a range of courses that start at the Tauranga Marina and progress towards the picturesque coastline. Participants will navigate around the base track of Mount Maunganui, experiencing scenic views of lush greenery and rugged cliffs. The route culminates on the sandy shores of Mount Maunganui beach, where runners complete their race amid the lively atmosphere created by spectators.
In addition to individual participation, the event includes a corporate and club challenge, where teams of at least five compete in an 11km category. The performance of the first five team members to cross the finish line determines the winning team.
Post-race activities may include opportunities for socializing and celebration at the surf club, enhancing the community aspect of the event. This annual gathering not only promotes fitness but also fosters a sense of camaraderie among participants and spectators alike.
