The Cape Egmont Half Marathon Run/Walk is scheduled for 13 July 2025, taking place in the Taranaki region. This annual event features a scenic, undulating point-to-point course that begins in Okato and concludes at the Cape Egmont Boat Club near a replica lighthouse in Warea. Participants will experience a gradual incline on country roads leading to the halfway mark, followed by a gentle decline towards the coast.
The event offers a relay option, allowing two participants to cover the course as a team. The first leg spans 11.4 km, with a changeover point at the summit of Mid Newall Road, while the second leg covers 10.4 km to the finish line. Additionally, a virtual running or walking event is available, which can be completed anytime between 1 and 31 July 2025.
This race is held in memory of Andrew Smith, a fellow runner who passed away from brain cancer in December 2016. Proceeds from the event support the Taranaki Cancer Society, and all finishers receive a medal as recognition of their participation.
